Give to Ironstone, in lieu of wedding favors
Planning a wedding? Please consider donating the money you would have spent on wedding favors to Challenge Unlimited at Ironstone Farm.
The charitable donation is making appearances at many modern weddings.
“Wedding favors have a history of being associated with trinkets that get left behind or pieces of candy that get eaten, and bear no memory of the wedding,” says wedding planner Lauren Hajjar, of Errands and Events by Lauren. “Charity is a unique way for brides and grooms to both personalize their wedding day and to give back. Donating money to charity in lieu of wedding favors is an easy way to show your guests how much you care by choosing a charity or cause that is near and dear to your hearts.”
- donate money in lieu of wedding favors,
- donate money by creating a charitable wedding registry,
- make a donation in remembrance of a lost loved one, or
- thank their wedding party attendants by donating.
Lauren considers www.justgive.org to be a user-friendly website that allows brides, grooms and their guests to donate to charities (other credible websites she suggests include www.idofoundation.org, www.weddingwire.com, and www.theknot.com). Once on one of these sites, you can type in “Challenge Unlimited” and Challenge Unlimited at Ironstone Farm will appear along with our tax identification number. Then you can decide to tap “donate now” or “add to registry” and follow the user-friendly directions, says Lauren.
“Many brides- and grooms-to-be find this to be a rewarding way to both personalize their wedding and honor those in need,” she says. “Donating in lieu of wedding favors, raises the question, ‘Do we announce that we, as bride and groom, have made a donation in lieu of wedding favors, and if so how?’ There is no right or wrong answer here. However, placing a tented card at each place setting or on each table is an opportunity to let your guests know more about your favorite charity and why it means so much to you.”
Get a group together to sponsor a child[caption id="attachment_305" align="alignright" width="300"] Doug and Diana Berthiaume this past fall gave a generous matching donation to help extend Ironstone Farm’s programs and reach. They agreed to match any individual donation of $5,000 or more, up to a total of $500,000. To learn more about the match, click here.[/caption]
Therapy for a child at Ironstone Farm costs $2,500 a year. While any donation is appreciated, you could inspire a group of people you know to sponsor a child together.
Some people join together with friends, relatives or co-workers to sponsor one child.
