Two runners, one with a wealth of experience and one running her first marathon, tackled the 2015 Boston Marathon to support the nonprofit programs at Ironstone Farm.
For Jason Abernathy, Boston was the final leg of a 76.2-mile two-race challenge. Two days before the Boston Marathon, Jason ran a 50-mile trail race over a mountain in Arkansas. He still finished the Boston Marathon in under 4 hours, beating his goal.SEE JASON ABERNATHY’S STORY
This year’s marathon was the first for Burlington teacher Jacki McLaughlin who, like Abernathy, appreciates the positive effects Ironstone’s programs have on children with special needs.SEE JACKI MCLAUGHLIN’S STORY
Combined, the two runners raised over $20,000 for Ironstone Farm’s nonprofit programs. In the past two years (2014 and 2015) nine runners have taken on the Boston Marathon for Ironstone Farm, raising about $60,000.
