(pictured above) Ironstone Farm employee of the month, Kerry Woelfel poses with Unico the therapy pony
Congratulations to our December Employee of the Month, Kerry Woelfel! Kerry is truly an invaluable member of our team at Ironstone. She not only brings professionalism and hard work to her role as an instructor, but she also brings an incredible sense of humor! Kerry has a natural talent for making people feel comfortable from the moment they meet her, which sets the tone for a successful lesson and an atmosphere of joy and laughter for everyone at Ironstone Farm. We could not imagine an Ironstone without her!
GET TO KNOW KERRY
What is your favorite part of your job?
Being a former public school teacher for children with disabilities, I understand that for some people, going about their daily lives can be difficult. Horses equalize us; they meet us where we are. I love to share our wonderful ponies and horses and see the healing and success they bring, especially to those who need it the most.
Who is your favorite horse?
Hmmmmmm…let’s see….we aren’t supposed to have favorites, but if you promise not to tell, it’s Unico. As I tell everyone, he really is a Golden Retriever in a pony suit.
What is your fondest memory of Ironstone Farm?
Too many to count. Generally speaking, it’s seeing the smiles of people as they not just ride but be around the horses. Horses bring such peace, joy, and acceptance to everyone who opens their hearts to these magnificent animals.
What is an important lesson you have learned during your time at Ironstone?
We shouldn’t measure achievement by ribbons, scores, or trophies. We can experience success every day, no matter how small. Some days it might be the pony stopping when you’ve asked it to!
Thank you, Kerry, for exemplifying our mission and values in all you do!
