We are excited to announce an Ironstone Farm first! Two volunteers – Brian Kindlan & Brian Rittershaus – as our volunteers of the month! Affectionately known as the “B-Team that can’t be split,” both Brians met and became fast friends while volunteering together at the farm. Their dedication to helping our programs succeed is truly inspiring. Whether it’s weekly or substitute volunteering, the B-Team always brings a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Their humor and ability to make others laugh add joy to everyone’s day. We are so grateful for all they do for Ironstone Farm!

How did you discover Ironstone Farm?

I’ve been driving by the Farm for 25 years. Every time saying to myself, ‘I need to stop in there and see what that’s all about.’

What is your fondest memory you have from volunteering?

I was walking along the trail with a student and could hear and see a little girl riding in the ring nearby. She was giggling uncontrollably with belly laughter. She was so excited to be riding a horse. I feel the same way when I’m riding! I try not to giggle too loudly! 🤠

What does Ironstone Farm mean to you?

It’s a place where people can go to get away from their daily struggles and get to spend time with an animal that doesn’t judge and makes them feel alive and have fun. What a great way (for the Farm) to give back to the world!

How did you discover Ironstone Farm?

My daughter participated in lessons at Ironstone Farm when she was younger. There was a marked change in her confidence level after several months of riding. It was at this time that we realized how special Ironstone is.

What is your fondest memory you have from volunteering?

There really isn’t one moment that I hold dear. But, there have been so many special moments when a rider steps out of their every day expressed personality and offers up a magical smile. Not just a regular smile but a smile that reflects the purest form of joy one could know. This is what keeps me coming back.

What does Ironstone Farm mean to you?

For me the farm embodies a serene respite from the fast pace of the outside world; Ironstone Farm time transports me to a dimension that is hard to leave. The steady spirit of humanity and equine magic is on display at all times.

Thank you, to the B-Team, for exemplifying our mission and values in all you do!
