Dozens of people gathered at Indian Ridge Country Club last Thursday for the Andover Chamber of Commerce’s annual awards breakfast. Among the honorees was our very own development director, Jim Greeley, who was celebrated for his widespread involvement in Andover’s community programs.
Many members of the Andover community know Jim through his involvement in organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, Andover Rotary Club, and of course, Challenge Unlimited at Ironstone Farm, where he has served as our Development Director for the past 10 years. We are thrilled for Jim to be receiving such an incredible award celebrating all he has done for the Ironstone and Andover community!
Board member, Paul Salafia, and founding Executive Director, Deedee O’Brien both spoke at the event in honor of Jim. Paul Salafia brought to light Jim’s extensive involvement in the Merrimack Valley by listing over 10 organizations and asking audiences to raise their hand if they have been a part of any of the organizations.
Jim raised his hand for every name on the list.
Deedee O’Brien spoke of Jim’s involvement with Challenge Unlimited at Ironstone Farm, and what their friendship has taught her in life.
“I have learned so much from Jim about giving back, and how important it is,” she stated. “Little sentences from Jim like, ‘if you don’t ask, they won’t give,’ I’m sure that everybody in this room has heard him say that at one time or another, but behind that is a heart that I don’t think anybody can equal. And I just want to say that I am so honored, Jim, to be your friend…with friendship, one is silver and the other gold, and Jim, you are the gold. For all the people in this room, for Ironstone Farm, and for me.”
Earlier this year, Jim was also honored with Andover’s Virginia Cole Community Service Award. It’s the town’s highest honor given each year to an individual in gratitude for outstanding, long-term contributions to the town.
After a decade of tireless leadership, Jim Greeley will be stepping down as our Development Director on June 30th to enjoy a well-earned retirement. We are so proud of the phenomenal work he has done as both a tireless leader and champion for Challenge Unlimited at Ironstone Farm. Congratulations Jim for an honor that has been long-deserved and well-earned!
