How did you discover Ironstone Farm?
I work for a large pediatric practice in the area, and some of our patients are Ironstone clients!
What is your fondest memory you have from volunteering?
I love working with the horses with big personalities, and one day I was working with Oskar (Mr. Personality himself!) and we had a client who was unsure, and a little nervous about riding. This particular day Oskar decided he was going to park his hooves and refused to budge. The client thought this was hilarious and let out the biggest belly laugh! It was the first time I had seen him smile or laugh and it was all due to Oskar being the silly boy he is! This client has since become more confident and continues to enjoy his lessons!
What does Ironstone Farm mean to you?
For me, Ironstone means teamwork, inclusivity, and building confidence. I love everything! From the mission, the staff, the clients, and of course, the horses. I have learned so much about patience and communication from the horses. They truly are sensitive, magical animals. Watching the staff and horses help transform the lives of the clients they serve has been such a privilege, and I am so happy I get to be a part of this community. I learn something new every day!
