Hello, my friend,
My name is Spud, and as one of the furry and fabulous animal “therapists” at Ironstone Farm, I can’t wait to share a bit of our story with you.
The past year was filled with adventures. There were many laughter-filled and heartwarming moments. We had the privilege of welcoming nearly 1,000 individuals and families through our gates — including at-risk youth, people with disabilities, and veterans and first responders with PTSD — each seeking a bit of magic and a lot of healing.
“Through my work with people as a therapy donkey, they find acceptance, love, and hope.”
Why am I such a special therapy donkey? Well, my friends say it’s because I’m always myself, no matter what. People who find it hard to connect with others feel safe around me because they know I’ll always be honest.
My big ears aren’t just for show. They’re finely tuned to take in every word my clients have to say. Whether they’re sitting beside me, sharing their thoughts, or simply enjoying my peaceful presence, I am here to listen, comfort, and connect. This is so important for the children and adults who come to Ironstone Farm seeking to heal from their trauma. Children trust me with their thoughts and secrets and know they are safe with me.
Many of my friends have physical disabilities. Grooming and walking alongside me can improve their motor skills, coordination, and balance. You see, here at Ironstone Farm (thanks to me and our herd of 24 equine therapists), we don’t just offer therapy sessions, we also offer moments of connection and empowerment.
The truth is that we need your help, dear friends. The care of our herd requires significant resources, like $5,000 a month for hay and $2,000 a month for grain!
The incredible, life-changing transformations that happen at Ironstone Farm simply would not be possible without our herd. Making sure they are well cared for and loved so that they can show up for the people who need them most is our number one priority.
That’s where you come in. By extending your hand in support, you become an integral part of our herd, standing shoulder to shoulder with us in our mission to make a difference in the lives of others. This campaign will raise $25,000 towards our $200,000 annual goal to provide crucial care for our herd, ensuring each animal receives the support it needs.
Together, we can make life-changing transformations possible for both our animals and our community. So, won’t you saddle up with us? Become a part of something truly special with a donation today. Click to Give Today.
Thank you, from the bottom of my donkey heart, for considering this appeal. I can’t wait to see the wonders we’ll accomplish together!
With love and brays,
Spud the Donkey
