How did you discover Ironstone Farm?

I was searching for a volunteer activity on a website, Volunteer Match, and came across Ironstone Farm. After reading the description, I was intrigued and called Ironstone to get more information. There happened to be an upcoming volunteer training. I attended and have been at Ironstone ever since!

What is your fondest memory you have from volunteering?

I have many favorite memories, and a lot of them have to do with being present for all the joy, happiness, progress, and accomplishments of our very young participants. I often find myself smiling and realize how heartwarming it is to see a child on a horse smiling, waving, or looking at a parent, grandparent, or sibling, having fun, doing something that they perhaps haven’t done before, or progressing in some way.

What does Ironstone Farm mean to you?

Camaraderie, feeling like I’m part of a team, friendships, the pleasure of meeting, working with, and learning from the wonderful staff, other volunteers, and our magnificent horses. Being a witness to and in some way a part of a participant’s experience at Ironstone, no matter what program they are involved with and whatever that experience might be for them.

Thank you, Jan, for exemplifying our mission and values in all you do!
