Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month, Lauren Flynn! Since she first started in 2012, Lauren has been a tremendous asset to the farm. As a volunteer feeder, getting up early to give our horses the hay and grain they need is no small feat, but Lauren does it with enthusiasm and joy. Her reliability and willingness to do whatever it takes to give our horses the best is a testament to her character. Lauren’s positive attitude makes her a constant ray of sunshine for everyone around her, even first thing in the morning when most people are still half asleep! It’s volunteers like Lauren who make our organization thrive, and we are grateful for all that she does.

How did you discover Ironstone Farm?
I brought my daughter to summer camp at Ironstone in 2011, and we both fell in love with the farm. We loved the horses, the mission, and the people we met here. She continued taking lessons, and I became a volunteer. Our connection with Ironstone and our love of the horses has given us so many wonderful experiences and created a strong bond between us.
What is your fondest memory you have from volunteering?
There are so many! One, in particular, was when a visually impaired young girl was feeling all the horses as they were getting tacked up. When she got to Bergen and felt his mane, her face lit up, and she said, “Oh, this is Bergen!!”
What does Ironstone Farm mean to you?
Ironstone Farm brings joy and healing to so many: clients, riders, veterans, children, adults, the list goes on. I feel honored to be part of the team taking care of these incredibly special horses who are taking care of so many people!
Thank you, Lauren, for exemplifying our mission and values in all you do!
