We are excited to announce Michenzi McKenna as our Employee of the Month! Since she started in 2017, her journey from volunteer to Equine Intern and Coordinator is a testament to her passion and commitment to our mission. Michenzi’s ‘can-do’ attitude and strong work ethic have made a positive impact on the lives of every rider, volunteer, and staff member she interacts with. We are so lucky to have someone like Michenzi on our team – someone who truly loves what they do and is committed to making a difference in the lives of our every day.

What is your favorite part of your job?
Working with the Working Students! Growing up in the program myself, to now being able to work with the working students as a coordinator and help them grow has been so rewarding; I’m constantly impressed with their accomplishments in their work and the growth they’ve all made as individuals. The pride I get from seeing them succeed makes everything worth it.
Who is your favorite horse?
Columbia
What is your fondest memory of Ironstone Farm?
All of the horse shows! Although I tend to get slightly competitive, I get the most out of the overwhelming support and sense of community that is highlighted on show days. The friendly competition never fails to remind me how grateful I am to be a part of such an amazing group of encouraging and kind people.
What is an important lesson you have learned during your time at Ironstone?
If you love what you’re doing, you’ll never work a day in your life
