Meet Mike: March 2025 Volunteer of the Month

Mar 16, 2025

Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month, Mike Khatchedurian!🎉 Mike’s easygoing nature and can-do attitude make him an invaluable part of Ironstone. Whether he’s up early feeding the herd or spending his Saturdays supporting our programs, he’s always ready to step in and help in any way he can. His flexibility and willingness to roll with whatever the day brings help create a welcoming, low-pressure environment for clients seeking respite through our equine-assisted programs. Mike doesn’t just show up—he fully commits, eager to learn, adapt, and do what’s needed to make each experience meaningful. We’re so grateful to have him as part of our Ironstone community!

GET TO KNOW MIKE

Years of service / Total volunteer hours

1 year, 11 months / 100+ hours

How did you discover Ironstone Farm?

I was part of a volunteer group from Raytheon that helped to renovate the retreat house on the farm. I learned about the great programs at Ironstone during that project and wanted to keep contributing once the house was complete.

What is your fondest memory you have from volunteering?

Getting to know the horses. Learning how to work with them. Their quirks, personalities and ability to interact so well with people in need.

What does Ironstone Farm mean to you?

Ironstone Farm, and the Challenge Unlimited programs, have taught me the unique therapeutic ability horses have to connect, calm your day and help. The staff, volunteers and horses at Ironstone Farm are what make Challenge Unlimited such a giving and selfless organization.

Thank you, Mike, for exemplifying our mission and values in all you do!
