Congratulations to our volunteer of the month, Sonya Treadwell! Starting as a participant in our weekly veterans program, Sonya’s passion for Ironstone Farm has been clear from the start. She’s not just dedicated to our mission—she lives it! Sonya is incredibly kind-hearted and selfless, reaching out to lend a helping hand to as many people in our community as she can. Now, she’s come full circle, training to help veterans like her find the same sense of community and healing that she has found at Ironstone Farm. She truly embodies what Ironstone is all about and we are so grateful to have her on our team!

How did you discover Ironstone Farm?
I discovered Ironstone Farm through the “Horses for Heroes” program, which is a program developed in collaboration between Ironstone Farm and the VA in Manchester, NH. After day one of this encounter, I was hooked. The joy and peace that I experienced in just a few short hours helped me to realize just how precious life is, and that we each have a path to follow and pursue.
What is your fondest memory you have from volunteering?
I can’t say that I actually have a favorite memory while volunteering because I totally enjoy and absorb each and every moment. From working with fellow veterans, young children, physically or emotionally challenged individuals and the precious herd of horses and donkey – – it’s all special to me. The staff members and volunteers are dedicated, caring and focused on service.
What does Ironstone Farm mean to you?
Challenge Unlimited at Ironstone Farm – no truer words could be used to describe this place. Every challenge is addressed and met with success. This farm is magical and so necessary in a world that needs more love and understanding. I am so glad to have been welcomed into this community, and blessed beyond measure.
Thank you, Sonya, for exemplifying our mission and values in all you do!
