Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month, Talia Monkiewicz!🎉 Talia is the definition of steady leadership at Ironstone. In lessons, she brings a calm, grounded presence that creates a peaceful, “zen” atmosphere for everyone involved. She always knows exactly what is needed to keep sessions smooth and successful!
Beyond lessons, Talia is a dedicated member of our feeding crew, showing up rain or shine with a smile to take care of our horses on Sunday mornings. Whether the team is short-handed or the weather is less than ideal, she rolls up her sleeves and gets it done! It’s been incredible to watch her grow into a true horse person over the years, developing confidence, curiosity, and a deep love for the herd and our program. Talia’s sense of humor, kindness, and team spirit make her an invaluable part of our therapy sessions and our entire Ironstone community. We are so lucky to have her! 🐴💛

How did you discover Ironstone Farm?
At work, we had a visit from an organization that helps provide beds to children in need. They brought in the materials and we built them. It really made me want to get more involved on a regular basis, however, it was clear carpentry was not my forte, so I looked for an opportunity elsewhere. I came across Ironstone and it has been the best decision!
What is your fondest memory you have from volunteering?
One year, I had the opportunity to help during the showcase. I got to chatting with the rider I was working with, and heard all about her lessons and the horses she got to ride. She did such an amazing job and ended up coming in first place! Seeing how proud she was of herself, and what she had accomplished, was such a great experience!
What does Ironstone Farm mean to you?
Getting to come to a place where everyone wants to be there and finds joy in working together to create positive changes in someone else’s life. It’s a truly special organization where people are happy to offer up their personal time, and I have come across so many amazing people who have been volunteering there for such a long time.
Thank you, Talia, for exemplifying our mission and values in all you do!
