Dementia-Friendly Programming
Our equine Dementia-Friendly Programming helps improve the physical and emotional well-being of patients with dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease.
Interacting and caring for animals has been shown to have physical and psychological benefits for elders in memory care. The act of petting an animal has been shown to produce an automatic relaxation response through its rhythmic and repetitive movements. Horses can be especially effective in providing comfort to a person who may be having a difficult time processing memories and negative thoughts. Caregivers are often involved in the programming.
