Ironstone Farm’s equine encounter experience was created by two university professors. It was originally adapted for veterans with input from a former Navy Seal. The Veterans Experience began in April 2013 and is free to all veterans. These equine encounters are supported by organizations such as Home Base, Operation Hat Trick, Run for the Troops 5K, Veterans Assisting Veterans and Operation Thank You.
The weekly veterans programs are adaptable and topics include but are not limited to horsemanship, horse health, farm animal upkeep, and farm projects. Our Veterans Encounter program happens several times a year on a Sunday. Experiences are shaped to fit each group’s needs and abilities. Experiences may or may not include horseback riding. Our horses do have weight limits.
Registration is required for all our programs and Veterans Experience Packets will be mailed upon request. Please call Ironstone Farm at (978) 475-4056, or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Veterans who have experienced trauma and anxiety indicate Ironstone Farm's Veterans Experience has been better therapy for them than anything else they’ve attempted since returning from combat. This video gives personal perspectives on the Veterans Experience.
Ironstone Farm is converting its original farmhouse into a Veterans Center to allow veterans who have experienced trauma, their spouses and first responders to have a place to stay while they benefit from weekend retreats with us.
The center will allow for the Veterans Experience to be even more impactful and immersive. We need to raise an additional $350,000 to go to meet the need!
Will you help us provide true support for the troops?
