We are excited to announce Alexa Harrington as Ironstone Farm’s Volunteer of the Month! Alexa started volunteering in 2021 as a service learning student at Merrimack College. She only needed 20 hours but was hooked well before she finished her class requirements! Nearly 100 volunteer hours later, Alexa is entering her junior year at Merrimack and is incredibly giving of her volunteer time!
We love Alexa for her fun demeanor and welcoming attitude. She goes out of her way to make sure everyone feels included and a part of our Ironstone Family. She always shows up with a smile and we are so grateful to have her on our volunteer team at the farm!

How did you discover Ironstone Farm?
While in my first semester of sophomore year at Merrimack College, my Social Justice class required us to volunteer at a local organization. My older sister, who also went to Merrimack, volunteered at Ironstone previously so I thought it would be a fun experience to go there as well! After the semester ended, I decided to continue coming back because I loved the people I worked with and assisting the riders.
What is your fondest memory you have from volunteering?
My favorite memories are with the little therapy children who always get so happy while playing with the toys and going on trail rides to see where the other horses live. Watching them ride sideways and stand up while the horse is walking is amazing because they become so strong as they grow.
What does Challenge Unlimited at Ironstone Farm mean to you?
Challenge Unlimited means that no matter what challenges you may go through at any stage of your life, you can overcome them and become and stronger version of yourself.
Thank you, Alexa, for exemplifying our mission and values in all you do!
