In Loving Memory of Clint

Jul 25, 2025

Earlier this month, we said goodbye to one of Ironstone Farm’s most beloved therapeutic horses. For nearly 20 years, Clint helped carry our mission forward, touching the lives of countless riders with his steady presence, patience, and gentle heart. From the lesson ring to quiet trail walks, he had a way of making everyone feel safe, seen, and supported.

In his retirement, Clint remained at Ironstone, lovingly cared for by longtime volunteers-turned-staff, Cathy and Allison. Surrounded by his herd and closest friends, he lived out his golden years in the same peace and comfort he gave so freely to others.

Cathy and Allison have shared a heartfelt tribute and message of thanks to our community below:

Cathy & Allison with Clint in his retirement

To our Ironstone Community,

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for the incredible support and grace we received from so many following Clint’s passing. It has meant the world to us. We especially loved hearing stories from his younger years – so many warm memories and shared moments that show just how deeply he touched people’s lives. We recognize that many knew Clint far longer than we did, and we understand how important he was to so many at the Farm. It’s been an honor to be part of his journey.

We were introduced to Clint on our very first volunteer shift. Cathy was leading Clint, and Allison had Rogan, another Suffolk Punch, following behind on the trail for a school group lesson with SES. Clint quickly recognized the newbies in the group and decided it was the perfect moment to go off-roading into the woods. Naturally, Rogan thought it was a great idea and followed right along. We genuinely thought we were going to get fired… but looking back, it was the perfect (and very Clint) welcome.

We had the privilege of working closely with Clint during the Veterans’ Retreats, where he was always a favorite among participants. He carried many Veterans—both emotionally and spiritually—offering them much-needed support, strength, and authenticity.

We considered it a true honor to spoil Clint in his retirement. He enjoyed many peaceful walks on the trail, snacks in the grass—both at the farm and in our backyard—and playful moments with hula hoops and flags in the arena. These memories are treasures to us. We will miss him deeply. We truly believe that he is needed elsewhere – somewhere, a little girl or boy is yearning for a pony.

We love you Clint – keep the peace on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.

Thank you, Clint, for everything. You’ll always be an Ironstone legend. :horse::green_heart:
