Every week, our amazing therapeutic horses carry children, veterans, older adults, and families to help build confidence, connection, and healing through the power of the horse-human bond. But to do their jobs safely, our horses need gear that fits perfectly.
Regularly evaluating and updating saddles, bridles, pads, and other tack helps keep our horses comfortable and supported while allowing them to move freely and do their important work.
Properly fitted tack benefits everyone involved. It promotes comfort and longevity for our horses while creating a more balanced, secure, and effective experience for riders and participants.
WHAT IS TACK?
In horse riding, “tack” refers to all the equipment and accessories used on a horse, primarily made of leather and metal. This includes essentials like the saddle, bridle, reins, bit, and stirrups.

Pain-Free Partnerships: Our horses communicate discomfort through their behavior. Properly fitted saddles prevent sores and pinches, keeping our horses happy, calm, and willing to work.
Perfect Balance for Riders: Therapeutic riders often struggle with balance. A perfectly fitted saddle centers the rider, supports their posture, and prevents slipping.
Accommodating Special Needs: We use specialized adaptive reins, handles, and stirrups. New, adjustable tack ensures these tools fit seamlessly without hurting the horse’s spine or shoulders.

Just like running a marathon in shoes that are two sizes too small, riding in ill-fitting gear causes pain.
